L&F Selected as a "2025 Leading Materials, Components, and Equipment Company"

L&F , a global secondary battery materials specialist, has been selected by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy as a "2025 Materials, Components, and Equipment Leading Company" in the electrical and electronics (secondary batteries) sector. L&F received the designation at the "2025 Materials, Components, Equipment, and Root Industry Merit Awards Ceremony" held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province on October 29, demonstrating national recognition for its technological competitiveness in the core secondary battery materials sector.

The "Small Business Leader" program identifies companies with world-class technological prowess and growth potential in key strategic technology areas and fosters them into leading global players. Selected companies receive government R&D funding, as well as practical support, including mass production testing with demand companies, facility investment, and regulatory compliance.

L&F received this designation for its "High & Mid-Ni Polycrystalline and Monocrystalline Cathode Precursor Manufacturing Technology." Through its two-track strategy of NCM (nickel, cobalt, manganese) and LFP (lithium iron phosphate), the company has contributed to the advancement of eco-friendly processes and the stabilization of the supply chain, thereby strengthening the foundation for the self-reliance of the domestic materials industry.

In addition to this selection, L&F has also been confirmed as the lead organization for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's "Materials and Components Technology Development Project (Phase 2)". This R&D project, with a total budget of 13.6 billion won, will be implemented from August 2025 to December 2028, and aims to establish a domestic precursor production ecosystem. L&F will oversee the consortium and directly conduct core research, including the development and validation of non-sulfate precursors.

Park Seon-hong, head of L&F’s Raw Material Development Research Institute, said, “This designation as a leading company is the result of L&F’s capabilities securing not only cathode materials but also precursor technology, a key raw material, being recognized as a key national strategic technology.” He added, “Through eco-friendly national projects, we will overcome technological challenges and achieve complete technological independence in key materials in the era of global supply chain reorganization.”
