Translation platform Flitto has released details about its latest update and has also announced another round of funding.

Launched in 2012, Flitto is a translation service that lets users get accurate translations from native speakers in minimal time. It also offers instant translations using AI and its huge database of translation data.

Today the company revealed that it has picked up an investment round from Japanese social gaming company Colopl’s VC firm Colopl Next, but are keeping the figure under wraps for now. Colopl Next says that it made the investment based on Flitto’s position as a company offering the tracking and refinement of language data through its system and translation integration.

The startup has also release a new update to celebrate five years since release. One major addition to Flitto is a real-time voice translation feature. The platform will use AI to recognize spoken language and translate the result in real time.

If the AI can’t offer a translation in the case of dialect or other non-standard language, the app will send it through to Flitto’s translators to provide accurate results and saves the trouble of having to reword your sentence. The AI system uses this data to consistently learn new words and offer better translations. User experience has almost been improved slightly and the need to login for AI and similar translations has been removed.

“This latest update coincides with five years since the release of Flitto and is the result of Flitto’s hard work and technical talent,” says CEO Simon Lee. “We look forward to continued interest from users as our vision for growth and the service’s potential is proven through increased revenue and overseas investment.”
