Bootcamp Helps Korean Animations Go Abroad

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Creative Content Agency held the 2018 Animation Pre-Production Bootcamp on the 17th and 18th of September.

This Bootcamp, which aimed to help Korean companies secure investments, consisted of lecture workshops of foreign experts, pitching competition, business meetings and networking. On the first day, Producer Yoshiaki Nishimura, who is famous for Mary and The Witch’s Flower, delivered a lecture under the theme ‘Life of Animation Studio Producer, From Studio Ghibi to Studio Ponoc.’ On the second day, Animator Nik Ranieri, who created Pocahontas, Beauty and the Beast, The Simpsons, gave a lecture under the topic ‘Life of Animation Creator’.

In the pitching competition among 10 companies, Shasha of Pingo Entertainment and Hero Circle of Studio T&T have been awarded the best project prize and Ji-in Kim, Chief Operating Officer of Creative Bomb won the best presentation prize. At the event hall, the companies consulted with mentor groups through one-on-one final business meetings.

The Korea Creative Content Agency said that it will support extensional animation productions to help Korean animations advance into foreign markets.
