Employee scheduling app Albam to be made free from August

Startup Blue Night will release a free version of its employee scheduling app named Albam.

Albam is designed so that small business owners can have peace of mind by monitoring their store remotely. With the app, retailers can see employees clock in and out of work in real time right from their phone. Clocking in and out can only be done through an Albam device installed at the location to prevent workers reporting incorrect times.

Other features include the ability to calculate wages automatically, including overtime and holiday pay. Notices can be sent out to employees, and Albam is also able to manage multiple locations.

The service will soon be available for free following news that Korea’s minimum wage will increase by 16.4% from next year. Blue Night says that it wants to help relieve the increased financial burden on business owners and will be making the change along with the next update of Albam which takes place on August 9.

Mandatory recording of daily work times is also being discussed by the government, meaning that employers will need a new system in place if such a law does come into place. Being able to use Albam for free will likely take away the headache of trying to get a new system ready for many busy operators.

The update will also see the addition of some new features, such as employees being able to view their worked hours in real time and being able to request amendments to any times recorded incorrectly. It’s hoped that such features will improve management of schedules for both employers and employers.

A spokesperson for Blue Night said, “Wages are the biggest financial burden on businesses and so a rise in minimum wage will have a big effect. We hope that small business owners will be able focus more closely on operations by using the free version of Albam.”
